Nigel Shaw
Tax Director
What I do
I advise a wide cross-section of clients on all matters relating to Inheritance Tax, Trusts, Capital Gains Tax, Personal Tax and Estates generally. Since the announcements in Budget 2024 I now spend a lot of time talking to family business owners and landowners about “succession issues”. I also work closely with our Partners at Pareto Financial Planning Ltd on advising HNWI’s and Trustees.
Life before Langricks
I worked as Head of a Private Clients team with an independent firm of Chartered Accountants in North and West Yorkshire. I joined Langricks in 2021 and remember that due to COVID restrictions we couldn’t meet in a confined space, so instead walked around the fields and hills of Holmfirth. I qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor over 25 years ago and am also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Life outside Langricks
I’m a regular runner and have now completed over a dozen marathons – usually for a deserving charity like Wooden Spoon, MND, Leeds Hospitals Charity and MENCAP.
When not running or cycling I have taken up golf in last 12 months – a rather frustrating period in my life!!!
I sit on the Wooden Spoon Yorkshire Committee, a children’s charity based around the UK rugby community. It keeps me grounded on how kids with a wide array of disabilities just keep going and never give up.
