People are urged to check their national insurance record before 5 April 2023 when claiming state pension
From 6 April 2023 it will no longer be possible to fill gaps in your NIC payment history dating back to 2006 with voluntary contributions, as it is going to revert back to the past six tax years.
This means that for the 2023/2024 tax year it will be possible to make contributions for any gaps dating back to the 2017/2018 tax year only.
Specific financial advice is recommended before making any voluntary contributions, as it may affect the amount of state pension received. Further details can be found here ICAEW advice or speak to Chris Isaac our independent financial adviser.
