FCA, CTA – Director
What I do
Having advised business owners for almost 40 years I have unrivalled experience in helping them deal with the many problems they face. One day it has been fighting insolvency or dealing with an HMRC investigation, and on another, selling their business, or buying another. These days I am concentrating on tax and business planning, helping our team gain experience and spreading the word about the services our firm has to offer.
Life before
After University I worked for the dark side (HMRC) and after seeing the light I qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser in 1984. I worked as a Senior Tax Manager for a number of firms, and left KPMG in 1989 to set up my own practice. 30 years later, it was time to hand on the baton, and we joined with Langricks, where I remain fully involved as a director. I just wish that I was 20 years younger, because there are exciting times ahead!
Life outside of work
I have always enjoyed sport, and still participate in golf, walking and skiing. I am also a very active spectator of football (where I manage to support three teams, much to the horror of many diehards!) I am Past President of the Huddersfield Society of Chartered Accountants, past Treasurer at Woodsome Hall Golf Club, and have been on many Charity committees. I am currently a School Governor at Holmfirth High School. I passionately believe in giving something back to the local Community in which me and my family have been fortunate enough to live and work.
We have a busy family life, with a host of grandchildren to help me enjoy life to the full.
