What I do at Langricks
My passion at Langricks is thinking strategically – both for our business and for our clients. Being very ambitious, we have big goals and I enjoy spending time with the team and ensuring that we can achieve our goals. Technology is also a key focus for me and how this can be used to make processes within accounts functions more efficient – watch this space for our future developments!
Life before Langricks
I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Wheawill & Sudworth and despite under achieving in my A-Levels, Adrian Lee supported me and provided me with the opportunity of becoming a Chartered Accountant and a great insight into the profession.
I joined KPMG in 2003 and initially joined the financial services audit team, where I got the bug doing transactions acquiring insurance brokerages for a client. I then moved into the transaction services team full time, working on a variety of buy-side, sell-side, refinancing projects and the most memorable and largest project that I worked on was the floatation of moneysupermarket.com.
In 2008, myself and Camilla, along with our three month old daughter Hettie up sticks to Monaco to sample life in the sun, where I worked closely with the founder of Thalassa Holdings with a listing on AIM.
Prior to the arrival of our second daughter, Cece we moved back to England and founded Langricks in December 2009. Since then we have built a full accountancy offering including annual compliance (accounts and tax), audit and advisory services across a wide range of clients.
My time is split between running the business and advising SMEs on growing and selling their business. I often support entrepreneurs through a sale process, working closely with them and their corporate finance advisors. Deals completed recently include the sale of Nutravet (£33m deal size) and private equity investment by Great Hills Partners in BigChange where the business was valued at £100m.
I believe that my rounded finance background puts me in good stead for being able to advise businesses. This includes the typical audit start to becoming a Chartered Accountant, company acquisitions, company disposal and company flotation experience whilst at KPMG, and a brief stint in industry listing an oil and gas business on AIM.
Life outside Langricks
Like Camilla, sport and an active life style is important to me and I love running, hiking with my daughters, skiing and spending time on the water. I have a stop start relationship with golf, which currently is more stop than start, but hopefully this will change in the future.
