Lucy Hogg joined Langricks in September 2020 after studying at Aquinas college in Stockport. Lucy’s role involves assisting with bookkeeping and VAT returns aswell as working on small client accounts, she also helps out on reception and assists with other general office admin duties. It is fair to say that she has a varied role and she is learning all the time, read below to find out what Lucy thinks about her apprenticeship:
Why did you decide to take the apprenticeship route instead of going to university?
How do Langricks support you in your apprenticeship?
Langricks have been very supportive, especially during the exam process as my managers often ask which exams I have coming up and they then try and provide me with an opportunity to apply the skills I am learning in college in the workplace. This has helped me to have a much better understanding of certain exam topics which has helped me to both pass exams and also develop the ability to complete tasks in the workplace that I may have otherwise not had access to.
What do you like about the apprenticeship?
What I like about the apprenticeship is that I have gained skills that employers really want that can be transferred across many industries. This has improved my employability and my career options for the future. I also like that training and progression goes at an appropriate pace that I am comfortable with and fits my needs in comparison to a university where training is usually one paced.
What do you hope to do when you have qualified?
After I qualify in a few years time I hope to be confident in all areas of Accountancy and be able to further develop my career at Langricks by becoming a manager and support future Apprentices during their studies. Further down the line in my career I would like the opportunity to travel and work and due to my Apprenticeship I feel I will have the skills and experience necessary to apply for jobs that will allow me to do so.
At Langricks we employ a school leaver apprentice each year, if you want to apply for this year’s apprenticeship please contact us
